Battlestar Galactica boardgame

Last Monday night I played Marks copy of the Battlestar Galactica Boardgame at Bedford Gladiators. The game has had rave reviews on a lot of gaming podcasts (the D6 Generation in particular) and I was Keen to have a go.

Marks report follows:

The secret Cylons were Mark : President Roslin, and Joe: Gaius Baltzar. Whilst the hapless humans were: Stephen (Lee Adama), Maurice (Adama), Steve (Boomer), Mike (Colonel Tigh)

Somehow amidst all the confusion, we lost more than half the human fleet before our first jump as wave after wave of Cylon raiders swarmed the ship. Later there was a military coup, which gave Admiral Maurice Adama both the Admirals hat and the Presidents job. This was a disaster for the humans as many of the crisis cards call for the loss of resources or the loss of cards by the Admiral or President and one player just can’t have the cards for both.

All the resources were quickly reduced to 1 or 2, but the ship completed a second jump without incident triggering the sleeper phase. Boomer (Steve) revealed that they were the sympathiser as was promptly thrown in the brig. Shortly afterward I revealed myself a Cylon and zipped off to the resurrection fleet. Joe waited a little longer, revealing himself just before the fleets third and final fatal jump.
With their fuel all gone, humanity were doomed!

One of the most interesting games I have played for a while and great fun with lots of twists and turns.
