Finaly what all Red Blok AT43 Players have been waiting for some pictures (albeit a computer rendering) of the size 5 type 3 strider the Dotch Yaga are out in Cry Havoc 99.

The Dotch Yaga is a legend… Rumor has it that the construction of just one of these combat striders monopolizes Slavgorod´s production of kolossium for a month; that a single shell of its heavy mortar weighs as much as a kolossus battlesuit; that it has a Gauss cannon capable of firing 500 kilos of steel per second; that it can absorb direct fire from a battlecruiser. All these rumors are true. The Dotch Yaga is a legend because no one has ever survived a fight against the ultimate offspring of the revolutionary weapons industry. Every day, even its pilots are surprised by the endurance and the power of this machine. A new generation of officers has been specifically trained to take command of the Dotch Yagas to fully exploit their capacities; and no doubt others will need to be trained to command companies that include one of these armored fighting vehicles.

There is also a picture of a new Cogs figure which looks like a type 3 infantry unit.

A fun day And I did meet some old friends from 18 Plus -  thanks to Jane for arranging the reunion of Bedford 18 Plus.

Last Saturday id did some recording for an AT43 themed episode of This Week In Wargameing. it should be up in 4-5 days.  Quite fun and it went better this time and I managed to use my Br600 as a back up recorder so if we had problems there would be an alternate take to allow us to splice the recording together.

The next step is to hook up cubase and live so that i can record in cubase/live and use live to drop bumpers and adds into the show using a controll surface  in real time just like a proper podcaster I also ned a better condenser mic as at the moment I use a pair of the entry level Shure dynamic mics entry level SM 58’s if you will.

The latest Cry havoc from Rakham has some very interesting pics of the new AT43 faction the COGS.

There is also some pics of units identified as O.N.I Corp which I assume are part of the faction. The cogs are a grouping of multiple races so having different races of figures is to be expected.  Oops just read some comments on the forum indicte that this may be a Human Unit allied to the UNA or a Mercenary Unit a bit like the Medical Specialists shown in operation frostbite.

The first appears to be a type one infantry unit.

Interesting in that the use of ONI as a name indicates that this faction may have roots in Japanese culture in the same way the Red Blok are soviet derived.

An old friend from my 18 plus days is arranging a reunion for Bedford 18 Plus Members at this years river festival (2nd largest event of its type after Notting Hill Carnival) on the 12th of July at the one of our old meeting venues the embankment hotel.

We  used to organize the raft race that forms one of the major river based events. (circa 1000 participents) and  200,000 Plus spectators.

We used to consider the river festival race a warm up for our 3 day 18plus raft race where we took over a large sports center set up a camp site for 1400+ people and ran 3 of days of evening events and a raft race on the Saturday.

Finally have decided to do some broadcasting I have volunteered my self for an AT 43 Podcast and as a contributor to a new General Wargames Podcast This Week in Wargames (lets hope we can become the equivalent of TWIT)

I’m also going to do a test run at Campaign 08 at MK in a couple of weeks

Changes to the law coming in May starting  from May 26, when it will become a criminal offense for brands to seed positive messages online without making the origin of the message clear. Looks like this is a EU directive being implemented - wonder if the way its implemented will ave unintended consequences I can see the Sir Humphreys cocking this up or in a worse case having implications for anonymous political comment.

Back in the day when I was a research assistant at BHRA a lot of test and measurement equipment was difficult hook up to computers and often results had to be measured by hand and transferred to computers for analysis.

nowadays the USB interface seems to be taking over from IEEE-488 standard that some of our reassuringly expensive HP gear used.

I blogged before about some USB temperature measurement devices and just noticed that one of my SEO clients has a sound meter that has a USB interface - back in the day we had custom built interfaces to measure sound in BHRA’s anechoic chamber £3000-40000 pounds per channel i seem to recall(oh an that was only 12 bit resolution )

There have been some comments recently  (here and here) that it is possible to attack a third party by a number of methods including redirecting a banned domain to a good domain and dumping poor quality links on a site.

My suggestion to solve the redirect problem is to authenticate any domain to domain redirects in the webmaster console.

So if Black hat A redirects badsite.com to good site.com the good site webmaster B using webmaster tools can repudiate the redirect.

Another possible attack vector is adding links from banned for poor quality domains maybe webmaster tools could display the rate of link acquisition and flag and big changes from the long run or a beta from the normal rate

This would allow a webmaster to investigate if anything dodgy was going on and again you would need a way for webmasters to repudiate links from sites they don’t want – maybe at a domain level in webmaster tools.
